As our “strength coach” with the Victoria Grizzlies of the BCHL, Dan brings a ton of fitness expertise. His high level of energy and enthusiasm towards training our athletes makes for an extremely effective training program. His personable approach is great for our players. He communicates to all of them regarding their personal development and living a healthy high performance lifestyle; these regular communications are such a benefit to our players.

His training background is extensive and the players recognize his expertise and trust his motivations, as he breaks down each player and focuses on their specific needs as an athlete moving forward.

While working with the team through the performance stage of their season, he listens closely to the athletes to help gauge the level of training that is necessary; all while making sure each player maintains weight and muscle mass throughout the year.

Our organization can’t thank Dan enough, for the positive impact he has made for our hockey club on and off the ice!

The Wolves staff were very happy with the work Dan Maffia provided for the teams training program this year. Dan was very easy to work and get along with, and often went above and beyond to help our program. The players feedback was all positive, they felt like they were pushed but not too hard during the season and some of the local players have now personally hired Dan to be a strength and conditioning coach for the off season. I have had multiple different trainers over the years and just this past season I met Dan. I could tell from the start he was a beast. He wants to push you to be your best and makes everyone he trains with or around push their limits. Dan came on board with my team the Victoria Grizzlies and made a huge impact. He would train us in the gym when he could has big groups or in private sessions. He put lots of extra time into making workout programs for every player to have so the boys could workout on there own time as well. Dan has been great and just in the short time I’ve trained with him I have seen my self improve in all aspects of my game, weather it’s on the ice or in the gym.

I had the privilege of working with Dan for 3 months during the 2019/20 hockey season. As a result of being traded I was no longer able to be in the gym with him. Working with Dan has been a blast. Being a professional athlete I am used to pushing my self to my limits. Dan has showed me that I have another gear and can push pass those limits. Not only has my strength and conditioning increased, Dan has put an emphasis on my balance and agility, which has helped me tremendously on the lacrosse floor. He has also added a focus on my stretching and recovery that will elongate my professional lacrosse career. It has added more fuel to the fire and passion for the game.
